Thank you for your interest in Daniel Island Academy for your
child’s care and early childhood education and
development.
Since 2006, our school has been
accredited by the National Association for the
Education of Young Children (NAEYC), which sets
the highest standards in education,
health and safety. We are one of only a few
schools in our region to receive this level of
accreditation, and the only one in
the East Cooper Area of Charleston and Berkeley
counties. Additionally, we are the only school
to offer
Reference Point®, our
system for tracking your child’s development and
progress throughout the year, and from
year-to-year.
When visiting our school I recommend that you arrive
through our gated courtyard, which serves as our
Outdoor Classroom. You will find
fragrant flowers and blooming gardens, and most
likely see a group of children at play or
enjoying an outdoor snack break. Garden play?
That just may be a lesson on insects and
earthworms, or how to use captured rainfall to
tend to a garden. Do you hear music?
Outdoor musical instruments of drums, chimes,
and a rainstick are kid favorites and have a
permanent place in our courtyard. If your
timing is right, you may happen upon one of our
artists-in-residence creating a new chalk art
display, or a class starting out on a walking
field trip to a local park or business.
Every day is a new and enriching experience!
Our school serves some 280 children ages one through six
years of age, including Kindergarten. We offer
Full Day, Half Day, and Mother's Morning Out
Programs.
The Creative Curriculum is taught
in all preschool classrooms, and we have
designed a Kindergarten Program that meets - and
exceeds - State of South Carolina requirements.
Best of all, our teachers are highly
professional, motivated, and lovingly engaged
educators and caregivers whose main goal is to
give your child the best experience possible. We
support their efforts by maintaining low
child-to-teacher ratios, providing extensive
training and continuing education, and
appointing each classroom with the best teaching
tools and materials available.
Please take a few minutes to tour our website which has been
recently updated with the latest information on
our programs and curriculum. We welcome you and your family to visit our school so that I
may personally answer your questions. I am
confident that you will agree, “Wonderful Things
Happen Here!”
