New Director Announced at Daniel Island Academy

DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. (March 15, 2007) – The Daniel Island Academy, Daniel Island’s state-of-the-art Early Childhood Development Center, has hired Kerry Nowosielski as the new Center Director.

Mrs. Nowosielski is an experienced teacher and school administrator, who began her teaching career in Boston, MA in 1990. She assumed the position of Director of the Guild of St. Agnes Preschool in Worcester, MA in 1998 and was responsible for a number of small off-site programs as well as the large Early Childhood Development Center. During her tenure at St. Agnes she successfully led her school through the extensive National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation process.

A graduate of Wheelock College in Boston, MA with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education, Ms. Nowosielski attended the Worcester State College Graduate Program in Educational Administration and is certified by the Massachusetts Office of Child Care Services.

Kerry is a mother of three currently living in Summerville. After five years as a full time mom, she is ready to reenter the Child Development field. During her orientation period, she will be overlapping with interim Director Jane Farrell to ensure a smooth transition. As Center Director, Kerry is responsible for maintaining NAEYC required standards with respect to staffing, programming, and the overall operation of the school’s academic and developmentally appropriate curriculum.

“We are very excited to add such a highly qualified member to our team –  she brings wonderful experience in faculty leadership and quality curriculum development and implementation to the most comprehensive nationally accredited pre-school in the area,” said Chad Vail, Daniel Island Academy’s Operating Partner.

Daniel Island Academy is an Early Childhood Development Center serving over 300 children ages 1-5. It opened its doors as the new model for area childcare - both inside and out of the state-of-the-art facility – in 2004.  The Academy is the only regional school that has met NAEYC standards (see NAEYC.ORG) from its very inception. The school received its NAEYC accreditation in 2006.
